Hi Jon – Glad to hear it’s been useful!
That’s a great find w/ your tag page. Building on what has been working consistently over time is the way to go. I’d be careful about “bolting on” links to the main menu from a user experience / design perspective. But yes, that could help some, though it’s hard to really say how much. I’d also look at where you could link to the page from within other relevant pages on the site. I’d also look at adding better content to the page. I covered that in this tutorial –> https://larryludwig.com/use-wordpress-category-tag-pages-seo/
Hope that helps!

First of all, thank you for all of the information you provide via your newsletter. A few months ago you gave me some SEO advice on my sister’s website and I have a quick question about tags. I have a tag that has been moving up on GOOGLE and it gets searched 8000 times per month which is significant for us as we are not getting much traffic on our website. Currently, we rank for this term #12 so it is not too far off from the middle of the first page. Would you recommend I link this from my main menu or my homepage or both to help boost the tags popularity?
Thanks in advance!

Definitely saving for future reference and giving to our new content team for learning. Thank you! We just signed up for Ahrefs so still learning the hacks. This makes it much easier to leverage all of the features.

Just a few things that I needed further explaining.
In your “Identify Low-Hanging Fruit / Easy Link Opportunities” section. Once analysis has taken place of competitors how would you approach this opportunity? get in contact?
Thanks in advance.

Hey Jean – thanks for the comment! Honestly it would depend on what you found. I start by categorizing what you find, and then doing outreach as appropriate.
A typical example would be an ecommerce retailer finding link opportunities with their manufacturer or distributor. If a manufacturer has a “Where to Buy” page, the Link Intersect tool would turn it up. You would then either reach out to the web developer, your manufacturer rep or customer service depending on the relationship.
I call them “low-hanging fruit” because you often don’t need to develop an asset or provide anything in return. You just need to find the right person to contact.

I’ve been using this tool but I didn’t realize that there are still useful things this tool could offer.
